Mission Statement

Mission Statement – As women and men rooted in faith, we call for justice, equality and full partnership in ministry. We are committed to Church renewal and to the transformation of a structure which uses gender rather than gifts as its criterion for ministry.

EqualwRites – is published by the core committee of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Women’s Ordination Conference. We are inspired by, but independent of, the National Office of the Women’s Ordination Conference. To receive EqualwRites, email mejann@verizon.net.

Description of identity as a women priest/feminist minister: Eileen is a priest/presider in two communities formed as discipleships of equals: a weekly community, St. Mary Magdalene Community, and a monthly community, Sanctuary of Peace.

St. Mary Magdalene Community offers weekly Sunday Mass. Eileen is one of several presiders at Sanctuary of Peace, which meets the third Saturday of every month. Both communities offer the possibility of Baptisms, funerals, and weddings. Interested parties may request the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Members of Sanctuary of Peace gather for public prayer each week at one of the Philadelphia’s more dangerous high schools. Eileen is working with other clergy people in the area of this high school to explore ways of combating violence.
